La Troupe Zetwal is commited to making a positive impact on the lives of others in our community. Our mission is to not only spread the joy and love of dance and culture to all but also to serve as a volunteers and advocates for important social causes affecting our communities, such as educational outreach, health education and support, and economic development.
Although we are based out of the NYC Metro area, we hope to spread goodwill globally and we are actively organizing several community services initiatives to raise funds to impact change across domestic borders, particulary in the country of Haiti.

Community Service Initiatives
La Troupe Zetwal periodically hosts free Traditional Haitian Folkloric dance classes that are open to the public in parks throughout the NYC metro area during the Spring, Summer and Fall months. The classes are introductory in level and everyone is welcome. These classes promote dance as a method of obtaining and maintaining physical fitness while having fun. Come out and join us for "Haitian Dance Class on the Grass" coming soon in Summer, 2011!

"Reaching for the Stars" is an intiative of  the La Troupe Zetwal for girls and boys between the ages of 12-17. Dance is wonderful way to express oneself, in addition it is also a great form of exercise. The purpose of “Reaching for the Stars” is to engage our youth to participate in positive, self-expressive activities, give them the opportunity to interact with positive role models in the community, and encourage them to explore their horizons through the world of dance.

Please check back soon for future programs in 2011.
